Welcome to New Vegas, a city once covered in bling, now blanketed in ice. Like much of the destroyed planet, the place knows only one temperature—freezing. But some things never change. The diamond in the ice desert is still a 24-hour hedonistic playground and nothing keeps the crowds away from the casino floors, never mind the rumors about sinister sorcery in its shadows.

At the heart of this city is Natasha Kestal, a young blackjack dealer looking for a way out. Like many, she’s heard of a mythical land simply called “the Blue.” They say it’s a paradise, where the sun still shines and the waters are turquoise. More importantly, it’s a place where Nat won’t be persecuted, even if her darkest secret comes to light.

But passage to the Blue is treacherous, if not impossible, and her only shot is to bet on a ragtag crew of mercenaries led by a cocky runner named Ryan Wesson to take her there. Danger and deceit await on every corner, even as Nat and Wes find themselves inexorably drawn to each other. But can true love survive the lies? Fiery hearts collide in this tale of the evil men do and the awesome power within us all.

This was a fantastic book. I fell into Nat’s story of survival. I was hooked from the beginning when the inner voice told her the only way to survive was to trust she would survive only by flying out of her window.
Wes, an ex-military man with the responsibility of a ragtag crew and morals not seen during these times of extreme cold where working for heat units, is just as important as food to keep from being struck by the blight. He struggles with his inner turmoil to do the right thing and yet still endure.
Both are just trying to stay alive in a world that is frozen and controlled entirely by a corrupt government in a dystopian world of ice and in an age of magic where the fae, mages, pirates, smallmen, zombie-like creatures, and drakons. Those with magic are bought and sold into slavery to find what makes them tick and how they can be used as weapons.
Wes must decide if he wants to take a chance to help Nat get to what may be a land of blue skies and clean water. An Atlantis of sorts.
Will they survive? Will there be a true love matchup or two?
Stay tuned…
