Fangs and Fur (The Life and Trials of Persephone Black Book 2) by L.M. Miller

Fangs and Fur - Lindsay M. Miller.ca

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this free digital edition for an honest review!
Fangs and Fur begins where Blood and Beasts left off, but more confusing for the characters. If it wasn’t bad enough to find out you have new powers as a witch/ wizard or have become a vampire or turn hairy with the full moon, the core group now have to deal with the mingling of their personalities of each other. Add to that, a real live demon who has built himself a proper Hell and has trapped others that come wandering in on the blue moon. Of course, Seph’s friends feel the urge to see what is below the school and Seph and the rest of the crew have to go into savior mode to retrieve Linda and Abernathy. But there is always a twist with this crew and then who will save whom and from what?
Very quick read with a great escape into the paranormal fantasy world. I’d definitely recommend to those that like to read about teen angst and the paranormal.

Pivot Point.caWhat is the pivot point? It is that place in the middle where two lines split to go their separate ways. Why is this important, you might ask? Because that is the most integral part about making a decision. It is the one point to where you must choose the path you will go and deal with the consequences of your choices.

Addison Coleman, Addie to her friends, is a normal teenager if you consider having advanced mind control abilities to be normal, that is. She lives in a compound with her mom who can persuade people to do or feel what she wants them too, and her dad who is a human lie detector. And you thought your parents were bad! She has a best friend that can erase memories and has been noticed by the High School quarterback. Life is good until her mom and dad tell her they are getting a divorce and she must decide if she will remain with her mom or go with her dad and live in Texas with the normal people.

As a Discerner, she can tell the future, but only if faced with a choice. So, faced with this decision, she and best friend Laila decide she should search her 2 possible futures and Laila could erase the future she does not choose. Great plan! Then she follows her life through 6 weeks in both worlds. She makes new friends, is betrayed in either scenario and is faced with decisions within the search that lead to more questions. Just as she decides which future she wants to keep a major event involving Laila jerks her back. Both scenarios are horrible, but she must decide which she can live with for the rest of her life.
If there was ever a book that deserves a sequel, this is it! I instantly connected with Addie as she struggled with real issues in an unreal world. She is such a strong leading female character and her instincts are spot on. Yet, she still had that high school feel to her. Just immature enough to be believable. I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds now that the past has played out and she has a chance at the future she had to let go!

Bad Review or No Review At All?

Great question! What do you think?

Geek Sneak Peek

I’ve been wrestling with a problem as of late, as our blog is growing and my presence on goodreads is getting larger: Is it better to put a bad review up or just no rating at all? Let me put this question in context. Authors need ratings, and recommendations, hey it’s how the world goes round in the book business, so in order to get that you have to get your books into people hands. The trend, and it’s not just indie authors since I’m also a member of netgalley, is to give away free books to people that will give you a review or blog about your book. Press is important. But as the old adage bad press is better than no press applicable here? I always tell authors, please be prepared I will be honest in my reviews, and that’s true I don’t hand out five stars just…

The first half of the book describes the inner workings of an American goddess-like princess that is being pursued by the Seelie Queen of Air and Darkness and Merry’s aunt. Also, King Taranis of the Unseelie Court believes one of the babies may be his from the time he raped Merry.

A ton of adjectives and lots and lots of sexless orgasms and screaming around others sex organs provide the reader with good exercise for the eyes as you will be using them to do eye rolls constantly! I was sorely disappointed and hope there will not be another installment because I, personally, will have to pass.
